Navigating to Scenario Planning
Overview
The Scenario Planning section allows organizations to plan out their energy Consumption and Emissions based on different scenarios that are set. A base case and up to four other scenarios can be configured.
Note: Scenario names can be changed to suit your nomenclature by renaming them in the language file.
Start by entering/importing Consumption data into the Grid and then when completed, switch to Emissions data using the dropdown on the top left. Consumption data is converted to Emissions when a value is changed and saved.
Note: When a change to the emission factor features (Fuel Types and Electricity) are done, it may take up to 10 minutes to update the Emission data that are affected by the emission factor that was changed.
Navigating to Scenario Planning
Navigate to Impact > Emissions, then click on the three-bar menu on the left-hand side, and then click on Scenario Planning. |
The Scenario Planning Consumption page will display. You can either import or enter data here depending on your permissions.
Click this icon to download the scenario to excel. Note that all periods, including the Baseline Year, Start Year to the Net Zero Year
Click this icon to navigate to the Imports/Exports feature to import Consumption data
Click this icon to open the Audit Log and access the change logs
Filter the scenario grid. The Showing text displays the options from the configured filter
Navigate forward or backward in 10-year increments. The Baseline year will always display
You can switch between the Consumption view and the Emissions view
Choose the scenario that you want to edit
Choose the display factor
Choose an expansion level to display in the grid
The grid loads with all levels collapsed and summarised and can be expanded level by level by using the triangle on the left
Displays the baseline year data from the base case scenario. This is displayed in all
Historical data is displayed in grey cells and can be imported and edited if you have the Allow to Capture/Edit Consumption Actuals Data permission
Forecast data is displayed in white cells and can be edited if you have the Allow to Input/Import Consumption Forecast Data permission
Enter notes or add attachments that are available across all Emissions module features |
Note: Users can only input/import values for Consumption. Emissions are calculated from the consumption figures. To import Consumption data, see this article.
Consumption data aggregation
The Consumption view will be aggregated by unit of measure so all fuel types will not display in one view. To see other fuel types, change the filter to either a specific fuel type or a unit of measure.
When you filter for Fuel Type, the Fuel Type filter will be activated as well as options for displaying the format.
When you filter for Unit of Measure, the Unit of Measure filter will be activated and the options for the Fuel formatting with be deactivated. |
Switching to Emissions
When all consumption data is entered or imported, you can switch to the Emissions view to see the Emissions calculated for the consumption data entered. The Emissions view will convert all fuel type data to a single unit of measure t CO2-e (the Emissions Equivalent) which means that all consumption data will be displayed and aggregated in the Emissions view.
Switch back to Consumption to make changes. Emissions data is not editable
Choose the Scenario that you want to review
Choose the display factor
Baseline consumption data converted to the Emissions Equivalent
Historical data converted to the Emissions Equivalent
Forecasted data converted to the Emissions Equivalent
Displays the last time the Consumption data was converted to the Emissions Equivalent |
Next Steps
Now that you have added your Scenario Planning data, you can navigate to Forecast and Initiative Impact to view the emission results.
