Overview

The Benefit Contribution report displays the benefit contribution of ideas/initiatives per department and stage throughout the system. This report provides two key views: the total Idea Value (or Improvement value) as initiatives progress through each stage, and the cumulative actual benefit delivered per stage for each initiative. The report helps users understand how benefits are distributed across the portfolio structure and initiative stages, enabling better tracking of value delivery across the organization.

To access the Benefit Contribution report:

  1. Navigate to the Reports module from the top navigation bar
  2. Select Benefit Contribution from the list of available reports under the Ideas group
  3. The report will display with default filters applied

Note: users need the Benefit Contribution in their role permission to be able to view and/or utilize the report

Understanding the Report Charts

The Benefit Contribution report consists of two main chart views that provide different perspectives on benefit delivery:

Chart 1: Benefit Contribution by Stage

The first chart displays the sum of the entire Idea Value or Improvement value as initiatives progress through each stage. This view shows:

  • The total value of initiatives at each stage (The stages are displayed based on your site configuration)
  • A breakdown by department or portfolio level
  • Color-coded bars representing different initiative stages
  • The cumulative benefit contribution across the selected time period

  • The values shown in this chart can be confirmed by viewing the Idea Card view, where the totals are displayed at the top of each stage column.

Chart 2: Cumulative Actual Benefit Delivered by Stage

The second chart displays the sum of the actual benefit delivered per stage for each initiative. This view shows:

  • The actual benefits that have been realized at each stage
  • A breakdown by department or portfolio level
  • The cumulative actual benefit delivery from the start date to the end date specified in the filters

Stage Legend and Filtering

At the top of the report, you will find a stage legend that allows you to filter the chart view:

  • Evaluating - Initiatives in the evaluation stage
  • Implementing - Initiatives in the implementation stage
  • Cash Flowing - Initiatives in the cash flowing stage
  • Locked In - Initiatives in the locked-in stage
  • Final Stage (if applicable) - Initiatives that have reached the final stage
  • All - View all stages combined

Click on any stage color to toggle the visibility of that stage in the chart. This allows you to focus on specific stages or compare selected stages.
