Overview

The Ideas pipeline lists all initiatives (ideas) with the potential to deliver financial or non-financial business improvement benefits to the organisation. Ideas progress through the pipeline when they meet the criteria for each stage and are approved to move to the next stage.

Pipeline targets are the expected value that will be delivered in each stage of the pipeline Pipeline targets are the expected value that will be delivered in each stage of the pipeline and should be set prior to transitioning ideas into the pipeline. The new pipeline target setting feature allows for targets to be set by stage and KPI type in a top-down approach or by KPI type, stage and period in a bottom-up approach.

The previous target setting feature required targets to be set at a pipeline, run rate benefit and cash benefit level and was complicated and not intuitive. The new pipeline target setting functionality released in May 2022 makes it a lot simpler to enter targets and provides flexibility for customising targets to your needs.

With the new functionality, targets are still set at the pipeline level and do not impact targets set on an individual idea. You can still set these separately.

The new simpler, combined ‘top-down, bottom-up’ pipeline target setting functionality caters for quick (high level) target setup and more sophisticated (sub-department by sub-department, KPI type by KPI type, stage by stage) target allocation.

Note: Only Pipeline Targets are manually captured. Run rate and cash benefit targets are calculated by applying the relevant Stage Benefit Target percentage to the total target value.

E.g. if Cash Flowing is estimated to yield only 50% of the total target value, the run rate for any target in the Cash Flowing stage will only reflect ½ of the target value captured.

Cash Benefit Targets consist of the calculated Run Rate Target plus any one-off benefits or costs defined at the Idea/Initiative level

Warning: Setting pipeline targets requires appropriate permissions to be allocated. See pipeline target permissions.
